The Cyril and Methodius Faculty of Theology at Palacký University Olomouc invites to the major international transdisciplinary conference TRIERTIUM: A Trinitarian Synthesis of Wisdom, to be held from 3 to 5 December 2025. The conference will explore the contemporary significance of the mystery of the Trinity in thought, science, and culture, bringing together leading figures from Christian theology, philosophy, politics, science, and the arts.
“The title TRIERTIUM is inspired by Comenius’ vision of the unity of sciences and the arts through trinitarian thought. The main goal of the conference is to connect philosophical and theological reflection on the Trinity with transdisciplinary efforts toward a comprehensive synthesis of scientific knowledge and human experience. Could thinking inspired by the mystery of the Trinity become the spiritual foundation for unity, freedom, and creativity in contemporary society?” reflected the conference organiser Dr Eduard Fiedler.
The conference will open on Wednesday, 3 December 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the main hall (AULA) of the Faculty at Univerzitní 22, Olomouc, with an inaugural lecture by the renowned British philosopher and theologian John Milbank. The first day will culminate in a public evening lecture by Piero Coda at 7:00 p.m. in the Archbishop’s Palace, attended by His Excellency Josef Nuzík, Archbishop of Olomouc. The following days (4–5 December) will feature further plenary sessions, thematic panels, shared discussions, and artistic interventions by figures such as Antoine Dossin, Václav Kadrnka, Karel Martínek, and Dalimil Ševčík.
Speakers and Guests
The conference will gather some of the most significant representatives of Christian thought in dialogue with the intellectual and cultural milieu of Central Europe. Keynote speakers include Andrea Bellantone, Msgr. Prokop Brož (Auxiliary Bishop of Hradec Králové), Rocco Buttiglione, Msgr. Piero Coda, Eduard Fiedler, Emmanuel Gabellieri, Philip Gonzales, Ryan Haecker, Michael Hauser, Lenka Karfíková, Msgr. Francisco Javier Martínez Fernández (Archbishop Emeritus of Granada), Giulio Maspero, John Milbank, Matteo Raffaelli, Paweł Rojek, Mátyás Szalay, Ilaria Vigorelli, Peter Volek, Ľubomír Žák.
They will be joined by more than 40 other distinguished scholars, artists, and researchers from across the globe, contributing perspectives from philosophy, theology, the arts, and the social and natural sciences — including psychology, ecology, technological ethics, and artificial intelligence.
“The TRIERTIUM conference seeks to be a space of deep dialogue that transcends academic, cultural, and disciplinary boundaries, offering a renewed vision of the human place in the world at a time of crisis of understanding, unity, and meaning. We warmly welcome all participants!,” added Dr Fiedler.
Film and Artistic Collaboration
The conference will also be documented by the film crew of award-winning director Václav Kadrnka (Eighty Letters, Little Crusader), who is collaborating with the Faculty on a feature-length artistic documentary entitled Triunity, exploring the Trinity and a trinitarian vision of reality.
