Kinder der Trinität: Eine trinitarische Ontologie des metaphysischen Kindseins

Synopsis:

For a child, everything is new and beautiful. While the beauty of childhood may inspire a metaphysics of beauty, its vulnerability makes such metaphysics problematic. In response to the scandal of innocent suffering that disrupts the beauty of being, an anti-metaphysical aesthetics was developed in modernity. Contrary to various forms of continental philosophy, this book argues that the incomprehensible suffering of innocent children is not immanent but relational—and thus analogous to the equally incomprehensible love of the Son of God, who takes this suffering upon Himself. A metaphysics of beauty must take the form of a new theological metaphysics: a Trinitarian ontology of metaphysical childhood.
